A new beginning

Any official or unofficial body that takes on a governing or advisory role also takes on the onus of being impartial. While the UN came in for a lot of criticism due to its alleged leanings towards more powerful nations, the same can come to pass in any other official body too. Particularly where nations are involved, the role changes drastically from that of, say, family solicitors, whose work is more or less defined and along a certain path. There is no straying from the established path.

Recognition of Social and Economic Rights

posted by admin in Future

The Non-Aligned countries have long claimed that they stand to defend the human rights of individuals and the autonomy of the states that decided not to be associated with organizations on the large global scale. And while working on such objectives for recognition of both the individual and the state as independent entities, another issue is rising that the NS must address, and they must do so in closer cooperation with other countries which participate in various international organizations. This issue is the recognition of the so called ESC rights - Economic, Social and Cultural rights of individuals across the globe.

How Good it is NA These Days?

posted by admin in Future

Many people have been questioning the position of the NA as compared to global organizations in the current financial climate. And the answer to their questions is simple - for a first time probably the Non-Aligned countries are benefiting from not belonging to any institutional organization. The problems which are to be discussed below would show that belonging to no organization is actually helping NA escape significant financial disturbances. The leading example for comparison would be Serbia - a country not associated either with the EU or NATO.

Aligned, Non-Aligned?

Aligned, Non-Aligned?

Sometimes, it makes one wonder if the Non Aligned Movement, set up to break the yoke of imperialism is of any use today. It claims to stand for the sovereignty of countries and their ability to cope with their own internal affairs without any external influence.

However, when you consider the uninvited intervention, forcibly often, in the affairs of a country in the name of democracy, you wonder if it’s all talk and no bite. Worse, consider the possibility of More

Media Imperialism

Media Imperialism

Imperialism is an offshoot of the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) which was part of the Havana Declaration of 1979 after the NAM itself was founded in Belgrade eighteen years earlier. The struggle against imperialism was to battle the extending authority, economic and political dominance of the powerful nations over the developing countries which were then mostly considered as Third World nations. The issue of imperialism may not be as popular as designer silver rings are among women and More

Kosovo Disputes

Kosovo Disputes

Despite the obviously false peace in the region of Serbia and Kosovo, military clashes have once again appeared in what is considered to be one of the most disputed regions in Europe. People there are hardly interested in ortak jewellery or any other kind of luxury - they are rather engaged in a fight where there is no wrongful party and where people are striving to achieve their personal freedom. The question is why Serbia, as a member of the More

Where are the NA?

Where are the NA?

The Non-Aligned countries, headed by Serbia, are the body responsible for promoting the human rights and the peace process. However, I have seen little of publicity in relation to their participation in the establishment of the global peace. Definitely, the organization has the goals of promoting values that many other institutions, including NATO, seem to be ignoring. Nevertheless, I hear more about the Locum GP Jobs rather than the activities of such a high-scale organization like the NA on the More

Do the NA Win the Game?

Do the NA Win the Game?

The non-aligned countries have long been saying that they need no assistance from other institutions and organizations. However, is that a win strategy and has the time come for some of them to reconsider. An example under this review would be Serbia - an European Balkan country that could have easily been a part of the EU but for its membership and key role in the governance of the NA.

Has Serbia won from not joining any organizations? This is More

Syrian Violence

Thousands and thousands of people in Middle Eastern countries are protesting against their governments, one of these places is Syria. The rule by Bashar al-Assad, who has been president since 2000, after his father had passed away has met the protestors with violence.
Syria said it has promised to implement democratic reforms but it still has continued its assault on protests. There have been over 500 protestors killed in the clashes with the military of Syria. Syria is becoming a More

Worries of a ’stalemate’ in Libya

posted by admin in Future

Some countries now fear that a stalemate could occur in Libya as the military campaign enters its fifth week. Meanwhile, the action taken by the Governments of the UK and France are supported by numerous polls which show that the majority of people in both countries support the intervention, which contrasts greatly with when the Iraq conflict began 8 years ago.

France has contributed a leading role in this conflict but is now concerned that the difficulties of the allies More
