Kosovo Disputes

Kosovo Disputes

Despite the obviously false peace in the region of Serbia and Kosovo, military clashes have once again appeared in what is considered to be one of the most disputed regions in Europe. People there are hardly interested in ortak jewellery or any other kind of luxury - they are rather engaged in a fight where there is no wrongful party and where people are striving to achieve their personal freedom. The question is why Serbia, as a member of the Non-Aligned is not harsher with the people that brought down its population in the newly formed country.

The political charge occurred after thousands of young men attacked a border post held by Kosovo and thus indirectly declared their disagreement with the persistent imposition of Kosovan will over the Serbian population in the region. Thousands of Serbs cannot retreat to their motherland simply because Kosovan institutions do not allow them to cross the border with their homeland. On the other hand, the powerful but NA country Serbia maintains fragile diplomacy and seeks resolution of the problem with peaceful means.

This, no matter how much the Non-Aligned would be aiming to achieve it, will not happen without economic intervention. All non-aligned countries are present in the Kosovan territories with economic influence - some of them deliver goods, other buy products from the country. Economic intervention would thus be a way of taking home all the Serbs that remain unlawfully detained in Kosovo. Despite the proclamations of no-violence techniques by the Non-Aligned, a harsh intervention of sometimes necessary - after all, economic restrictions can hardly be described under the considerations of any sort of violence.
